September 6, 1966, changed television. “The Man Trap” premiered in North America.

That first episode of Star Trek, in 60 captivating minutes, did exactly what it intended to do - boldly take viewers where no television program had gone before. But the experience was about much more than the futuristic gadgets, phasers and transporters, or the strange planets and space creatures.

Star Trek featured a genuinely diverse cast of leads. Its plotlines asked viewers to think and engage episodes meaningfully because creator Gene Roddenberry put humanity at the center of the action.

“The human race is a remarkable creature, one with great potential, and I hope that Star Trek has helped to show us what we can be if we believe in ourselves and our abilities,” Rodenberry said.

Star Trek drew audiences in with fantastic technology and worlds of endless creativity, but its creator kept viewers engaged by focusing on how people and their choices can serve the greater good of humanity in all its forms. After the original Star Trek, Roddenberry and his Starfleet would launch eight television series, 13 feature films, and hundreds of books, games, and toys. Today considered one of the most popular and influential franchises of all time, Star Trek is essentially a way of life around the globe.

In Star Trek’s imaginative worldbuilding and technological innovation, we see our GCO System: VisioningBrandingMarketing. In the rich diversity of the Rodenberry’s Starfleet crewmembers, who are united by a passion for discovery and a mission to elevate humanity, we see our GCO Collective and its commitments to CollaborationCommercePhilanthropy.

You’ve already read about the creative power of the GCO System and the community strength of the GCO Collective, but it’s their SYNERGY that will deliver a New Era in Real Estate Development

This is how the two work in tandem in our role as a Project-Starting Firm. The System’s core services bring a fresh approach to projects, creating a Unified Creative Vision powerful enough to truly transform a property’s potential. But making such a change reality requires bona fide strength. The Collective’s talented creatives deliver it because their collaboration is uniquely forged by common purpose.

“The developments of 2030 & Beyond must launch with a purpose-driven Unified Creative Vision that centers on the human experience because today’s consumers are already demanding it and coming generations will expect it.”

Our industry will need the right strategies (the GCO System) in the hands of the right team (the GCO Collective) for projects and people to thrive. The success of both will not be mutually exclusive in the Live-Work-Play neighborhoods, communities, and cities of the future. The New Era of Real Estate Development will integrate the pursuit of profits and humanitarian virtues into a singular purpose.

Projects thrive when they no longer consider the bottom line alone. To realize their highest and best use, real estate developments must center on enhancing the human experience. This is the essence of the GCO Impact, which Rodenberry perfectly described when speaking through one of his best-loved Star Trek characters, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by the incomparable Patrick Stewart:

“The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force of our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.”

Cheers to 2030 & Beyond . . .
